Neurotoxins are injectable solutions that temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle, preventing lines and wrinkles from forming. They can be used to treat muscle stiffness, muscle spasms, and excessive sweating. This cosmetic treatment is the #1 non-surgical aesthetic procedure since 2000. Botox, Dysport, and Daxxify are neuromodulators that impede neurons from communicating with each other to signal a muscle contraction. When neuromodulators are injected into a specific muscle it relaxes the muscle, thus preventing a contraction. Relaxing certain muscles prevents the skin from bending and forming wrinkles. With time and continued use the prevention of certain wrinkles is possible.
